Day Dreaming

From Ran's site comes this blog about dreaming and the connectivity between our mass society and the loss of culture. It is a meandering post but damn interesting none the same. One thing I would like to add is that the victors write the history, this really sums up the ideal.

Honestly does winning make our culture/society the "better"? In Jared Diamond's book Guns, Germs and Steel he talks about how everyone sees Western European (WE) societies as the greatest because they have the most "cargo", but does this make them better. If the WE's didn't have the desire or want to own and control more, then would they really be the best. As discussed in GG&S the germs are the greatest killer of all times. If you can breathe on someone and they die, you win. Not necessarilly because you are better in any evolutionary way except that you are a descendent of someone who survived that "plague" long before you were born.

Better lucky then good I guess.
